Hey Marcus, Great catching up with you at the barbecue last weekend! I've been meaning to follow up about that creative space I mentioned — Sparkworks Community Makerspace. I think it could be perfect for both of us. I know you've been itching to get into welding ever since you watched that metalwork documentary. The bad news is that the certification for that zone 1......, so it's not exactly cheap, but it's worth it. I checked the schedule and since you work Monday through Thursday, the earliest you could get certified would be 2....... Once you're in, just remember they're strict about what you wear — no sandals or shorts allowed. As for me, I've been wanting to make custom patches and printed designs for my roller derby team. The zone I'd need doesn't even require a safety course, which is a relief. I'm leaning toward the Standard membership since I'd need access to the specialized machines, but with my student card I'd only pay 3...... a month. Not bad at all. Oh, I also wanted to find out whether they sell fabric on-site, but 4....... I guess I'll just have to email them and ask. One more thing — my nephew Theo is 14 and absolutely obsessed with building little robots and circuits. I thought I'd bring him along on a weekday after school. He wouldn't need any special training for that, and if he wants to tinker with one of their microcontroller kits, he'd just need to 5....... I think it would be right up his alley.
