Two free tools for this section: the CLB calculator turns a CELPIP, IELTS, PTE Core, TEF or TCF score into a CLB level for each skill, and the CRS score calculator adds up your full Express Entry score out of 1,200. Both use IRCC's own tables and need no sign-up.
Your Writing and Speaking levels come from four rating categories. CELPIP publishes what a test taker can do at each level, from 3 to 12, in its Level Descriptors document, and we summarise it in our own words on two pages: the Writing level descriptors and the Speaking level descriptors. Each table comes with a short note on what a 9 does that a 7 does not.
What each CELPIP level means, 0 to 12: the official description of every level, its CLB and CEFR match, and what it is enough for.
